We wish to inform all our valued customers and the general public that there is no truth to any of the messages that you may have received or might receive and the facts are given below.

Tata Salt is produced from natural sea water in Devbhumi Dwarka district in Gujarat. It is made through a process of solar evaporation followed by technologically advanced Vaccum Evaporation process to deliver a consistently high quality product, which is purer than regular refined salt, making it amongst the noted Indian food brands.

All edible salt sold in India, is mandated by law to be iodized, to tackle Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) in the country.According to Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Government of India, adequate salt iodisation in India has saved 4 billion IQ points in the last two decades and played a critical role in the battle to eradicate endemic goiter in the country.

As part of the Government of India’s effort to address the issue of micronutrient deficiency in the country, Tata Chemicals supported the government to pioneer iodised salt in 1983. In keeping with the Tata Group’s ethos & vision of business doing good to society, Tata Salt has played a pivotal role in the battle against iodine deficiency in the last 30 years.

Tata Salt, pioneered the packaged branded salt movement in India in 1983 (at that time most of the salt was sold loose without consistency of quality and accuracy of weight) and continues to be reliable and trustworthy in promoting the health of customers. By highlighting factors such as hygienic production, purity, whiteness, nutrition and salt as a medium to eradicate iodine deficiency, Tata Salt established new standards for the category and is truly a testament of an Indian brand success story.

Tata Salt was the first salt in India to be manufactured using vacuum evaporation (VE) technology. This technologically advanced production process ensures that the product reaches consumers in the purest possible form. Natural Sea water is first solar evaporated and then vacuum evaporated post which iodizing, drying and packing is done.

Being the most reputed brand, Tata Salt follows a rigorous quality control process to ensure that a high-quality product is delivered to consumers. This not only includes quality control at the manufacturing location, but also strict quality control in our distribution system, which includes warehouses.

The mission for Tata Salt is to work towards a healthy nation, and it continues to work towards this mission through consistently delivering a high-quality product at excellent value to its consumers.
